Otago Knitwear – Crafting New Zealand Knitwear Heritage in Dunedin

Bringing Wyld Wool to Life

Founded in 1999 and based in Dunedin, Otago Knitwear has grown quietly into one of New Zealand’s most respected knitwear manufacturers. Their factory on Hope Street celebrated its 20th anniversary a few years ago—a testament to their resilience and craftsmanship in a challenging industry.

Directed by Geoff Keogh, who honed his skills at Tamahine Knitwear and later took over Bowens Manufacturing, Otago Knitwear blends tradition with innovation. Early on, Geoff even lived above the factory for three years as he built the business from the ground up.

Craft and Innovation
With a skilled team of machinists and technicians, Otago Knitwear combines decades of experience with modern knitting technology. This allows them to produce our naturally lightweight, lofty fabrics from Pihepe, Merino, Possum, Bohepe and Baby Alpaca yarns — ensuring every Wyld and Bohepe blanket has the integrity and softness we’re known for.
