Made in New Zealand

Grown here.

Made here.

Worn everywhere.

Wyld is proudly made in New Zealand.

Our Pihepe and Bohepe wool is grown on Banks Peninsula, our yarn is blended and spun in Wellington, and our products are made here by skilled New Zealand manufacturers in Levin and Dunedin.

For us, Made in New Zealand isn't just a label. It's part of the story of every Wyld product.

Pihepe - Pitt Island Wild Sheep

Bohepe Sheep

From sheep to Wyld

It starts with the wool.

Our two distinctive wools come from sheep farmed in New Zealand.

Pihepe gives our original Wyld range its natural brown colour.

Bohepe gives our Bohepe range its natural cream.

Both are naturally coloured and undyed.

From there, the wool travels through a handful of New Zealand businesses before it becomes the finished product you wear.

01 - Grown in New Zealand

Our Pihepe and Bohepe sheep are farmed in New Zealand on Banks Peninsula by Roger Beattie and his family.

Pihepe has its roots in the Chatham Islands, while Bohepe is an AgResearch breed of Wild Merino sheep.

The wool from these sheep is the starting point for our yarns.

02 - Scoured in Washdyke

The wool is scoured in Washdyke, Canterbury.

Scouring cleans the raw fleece and prepares it for the next stage of its journey.

03 - Blended & spun in Wellington

Our yarn is blended and spun by Woolyarns in Wellington.

This is where our Pihepe and Bohepe wool is combined with carefully selected fibres such as Merino, Possum and Baby Alpaca.

The result is the yarn used to make our garments and accessories.

04 - Knitted in Dunedin

Our garments, blankets and accessories are knitted in Dunedin by Otago Knitwear.

It's a skilled process that turns our yarn into the products that become part of your everyday life.

05 - Socks made in Levin

Our socks are made a little differently.

They're manufactured by Comfort Socks in Levin, using our own Pihepe, Merino and Possum sock blend, with a small amount of nylon for durability.

Our sock blend

40% Pihepe
30% Merino
20% Possum
10% Nylon

Because socks have a hard life. They need to withstand walking, working, tramping and everything else you throw at them.

Made slowly. Made to last.

We don't follow fast fashion.

Our products are made from natural fibres, designed to be worn regularly and cared for rather than replaced.

Wool doesn't need washing after every wear. A good airing is often enough.

And because our products are designed to be part of your wardrobe for years, we don't see them as seasonal pieces.

At Wyld, we believe the best clothing isn't seasonal - it becomes part of your story.

Why does Made in New Zealand matter?

We could make our products somewhere cheaper.

We choose not to.

Keeping production in New Zealand means we know more about who is making our products and where they are made. It also means more of the journey from fleece to finished product stays close to home.

It allows us to work with skilled New Zealand manufacturers and to make products in smaller quantities rather than producing simply for the sake of producing more.

We're interested in making good things, not lots of things.
